Young skaters have commenced their early preparations for the upcoming Africa Skating Championships scheduled to take place later this year in Nairobi. The initial skating competition aimed at grooming the junior participants was conducted at Earlybird Academy in Machakos. Skaters ranging from as young as 2 years old to 16 years old actively participated in the event. Notably, Calvin Wanjala, an eighth-grade student from Earlybird Academy, clinched victory in the engaging competition within the 12 to 13-year-old boys category. Mill Brook School emerged as the overall champions, with Earlybird Primary securing the second position and Menengai Primary School attaining third place. A total of 15 public and private schools took part in the tournament. Coaches have emphasized the necessity for additional tournaments to adequately prepare their athletes before the commencement of the national team selection process for the African Championships.
